South Point Engineering is a Bellville based, family-run enterprise which was established by Garth Clarkson in 1999. We specialize in the manufacture of custom-made metalwork components as well as a CNC Plasma Cut product range suited to the domestic, commercial as well as industrial industries. We provide a service from concept/design through to finished packaged product, working hand-in-hand with the client to arrive at the same envisaged result. Although still in the early development stages, South Point Engineering has recently created their own specifically designed furniture range.
With a factory workforce of 14 and a factory workspace of 1300m² we are able to accomplish anything from one-off prototypes to full production runs. We are, however, geared for mainly high-volume production runs. We have all equipment/tools required in the metalwork industry including inter alia abrasive cutters, band saws, cold saws, MIG and TIG welding facilities, etc. We make use of powder coating, electro-galvanizing and hot dip galvanizing suppliers as per the job requirements.
Our drawing department is CAD based which is compatible with the CNC Plasma Cutting software; all designs and drawings are done in-house by an experienced drawing team in collaboration with the Client is necessary. We have a wealth of knowledge in the metalwork manufacturing process which could be a huge advantage with decision making on design, material, etc.

South Point Engineering have recently become the proud owners of the Torchmate 4800 CNC Plasma Cutter which has been imported from Lincoln Electric in America (the first import in the Western Cape).
The Torchmate works with a water bed which eliminates material warpage and emission of fumes into the workspace. The water bed also allows the cut component to be removed immediately without risk of burns.
It has been designed to cut mild and galvanized steel in thicknesses ranging from 0.8mm to 19mm.
Our product range is suited to domestic, commercial and industrial clients. We offer a wide variety of standard and custom-made metalwork products/components made to our clients’ specifications. These include (but are not limited to):
• Shopfitting’s i.e. floor/wall display panels, fascia boards, custom-made furniture, etc.
• Restaurant fit-outs
• Bespoke domestic furniture components for various furniture outlets and interior designers

• Under-license manufacturing of components for various industries
We offer our clients services ranging from design to prototype to a packaged finished product.
We have recently begun manufacturing our own specifically designed furniture range which is available to individuals as well as retailers.
